Liverpool have no plans to move for Manchester United’s Fellaini

Liverpool have no intention of pursuing a deal for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to the Daily Mail.

What’s the story?

The summer transfer window will soon be open, so right on cue, bizarre stories have emerged from the rumour mill.

One of which came from French publication L’Equipe, which stated that the Reds are interested in signing Fellaini this summer.

Jurgen Klopp could soon be looking for a new midfielder due to the uncertainty surrounding Emre Can’s future at Anfield.

L’Equipe claims that the Reds are willing to offer Fellaini a three-year deal once his contract expires at United this summer.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the Merseyside outfit will not be making a move for the 30-year-old.

Would it have been that crazy?

Players moving between Liverpool and United is certainly not favourable when it comes to the supporters due to the intense rivalry between the two clubs.

However, in this case, Fellaini is not hugely admired by all of United’s fanbase, which suggests that the controversy of a switch would eventually die down.

Signing the midfielder would have some benefits for Liverpool given that he would not cost a fee.

In addition, the Belgian would present another option for Klopp, particularly if Can leaves this summer.

Having said that, though, Fellaini does bring with him a negative edge, that some would see as dirty tactics.

Magic Jorginho is perfect fit for Manchester United

According to the Independent, Manchester United will pursue Napoli midfielder Jorginho this summer if they fail to sign Toni Kroos.

What’s the story?

Manchester United want to sign Toni Kroos as a long-term successor to Michael Carrick, but the Red Devils believe Jorginho is a more realistic option.

The 26 year-old Napoli midfielder has blossomed into one of the best passing midfielders on the planet, and Mourinho could rival Liverpool’s interest this summer.

A lot of talk this season has focused on how United can get the best out of Paul Pogba, so could Jorginho be just the man to do that?

Perfect for Pogba?

Valued at £36million by Transfermarkt, Jorginho certainly won’t come cheap this summer, but he would be worth every last penny.

There’s a reason Liverpool are desperate to sign the Napoli star, as he can dictate the pace of any game whenever he likes.

Manchester United would be wise to beat their arch-rivals to the 26 year-old, and he could actually be an even better signing than Kroos.

Averaging 1.9 interceptions and 1.6 tackles per game in the league this season, Jorginho’s reading of the game makes him an excellent deep lying midfielder, but it’s his passing that really makes him stand out.

The wiry little midfielder averages 1.5 key passes per game in the league, and completes a remarkable 89 per cent of his 97.4 passes per game. He also completes over two long balls per game, which has earned him four assists this season.

A midfield of Jorginho, Nemanja Matic and Pogba would give Mourinho a perfect balance of intelligence, pace, power and technical ability, and the Red Devils should do everything in their power to get the Napoli star to Old Trafford.

Leeds fans bash Heckingbottom’s comments on Roberts

Paul Heckingbottom has been speaking to the good qualities of January signings Tyler Roberts, and Leeds fans are pulling no punches.

It’s been a miserable season for Leeds fans, but the side were actually in quite good shape when the January transfer window opened.

Fulham and Aston Villa have both showed how January signings can give a side a major mid-season boost, as Aleksandar Mitrovic and Lewis Grabban have both been huge helps in their respective side’s promotion pushes.

In stark contrast to those two sides though, Leeds’ January signings were perplexing to say the least, as two of the additions haven’t even appeared for the club yet.

Yosuke Ideguchi has struggled out on loan in Spain, and Tyler Roberts is still yet to feature for the club due to injury, and now the manager has been speaking about the 19 year-old.

“He’s sharp,” said Heckingbottom. “He likes to play in the final third. He can create because of his sharpness and he’s got ability on the ball. He’s changed a lot and he’s someone who I actually have seen for a couple of years now.

“He’s been really highly rated throughout his younger years, been out on loan in the Football League and desperate to do well.

“He was always coming to the ball a lot, his last loan move worked a lot on him running behind and it’s something I’ve spoken to him about. It was only when he felt the benefits of that in first team football that he reaped the rewards for it.

Understandably, fans have not been impressed by Heckingbottom’s reign as Leeds boss, and they’re mocking the manager for his faith in the injured youngster.

Tottenham fans are desperate to sign Ryan Sessegnon this summer

Tottenham Hotspur fans are eager for their club to do a deal for Ryan Sessegnon this summer after his latest stand-out performance for Fulham on Monday night.

The teenager was in lethal form against Derby County in the English Championship play-off semi-finals, scoring and assisting the two goals they required to book a place at Wembley to play Aston Villa.

Playing in a variety of defensive and attacking positions on the left flank this season, he’s scored an impressive 16 goals and assists seven times, emerging as one of the brightest English talents in the country.

The player is rated at £22.5m by Transfermarkt.

With Mauricio Pochettino having a track record for developing young, English prospects, a move to Spurs seems like a natural fit.

Fans certainly think so, believing he has the talent required to make it at the club and pleading with them to enter the transfer market for him this summer.

Wanyama’s commitment shows Tottenham players buy into Pochettino’s vision

Victor Wanyama has unequivocally committed his future to Tottenham by saying he wants to see out his contract – which runs until 2021 – at the club, according to Goal.com.

That shows just how committed Tottenham’s players are to the project Mauricio Pochettino is putting together and that unity should eventually lead to trophies, despite increased riches elsewhere.

What’s the story, then?

Wanyama told Goal that despite making just 18 Premier League appearances in an injury-hit 2017/18, he is committed to fulfilling his current deal at Tottenham, and is determined to feature more next season.

It goes on to say that the Kenyan international – who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt – is happy at the club despite rumours linking him with a move away in the summer transfer window.

Pochettino needs the players to buy in

Tottenham have made impressive progress under Pochettino but the fact remains – and although the revamp of White Hart Lane is geared towards closing the gap, it will likely remain the case in future too – they cannot compete on the same financial plane as Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, not to mention continental superpowers.

That means that keeping their elite players relies on them having major faith in what Pochettino is trying to achieve at the club, especially in the absence of tangible silverware to measure their improvement by.

Having a player such as Wanyama quell all doubts so early on shows that spirit is there on North London and with similar commitment from other players in the squad, Tottenham will eventually get the trophies to show for their performances.

Signing Patrick Roberts is the kind of measured risk West Ham need to take

As reported by The Express, West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester City attacker Patrick Roberts during the summer transfer window.

What’s the story?

Roberts is returning to English football this summer after a second loan spell at Scottish champions Celtic and has recently stated his ambition to make an impression in the Premier League.

The Express report that the two teams showing most interest in him are West Ham United and Leicester City, with title-winners Manchester City rating him at £15m.

Is he the kind of player the Irons should be moving for this summer?

Not a sure thing

Despite making himself a fan favourite in Glasgow, Roberts is wholly unproven at Premier League level, making a multi-million pound move for him something of a risk for ambitious top-flight sides.

However his potential is undeniable and, still just 21 years of age, he has good experience under his belt already having had to cope with the pressures of winning every week at the Hoops and playing against elite competition in the UEFA Champions League.

With 18 goals and 26 assists for Brendan Rodgers’ side over the last two-and-a-half seasons, he’s certainly made an impression north of the border and despite injury issues destroying much of his 2017/18 campaign, leaves the club fondly remembered.

He’s the kind of young player that West Ham should definitely be looking at this summer, risk or not. He’s talented, creative, exciting to watch and has a definite hunger to succeed at the elite level. It’s a combination that could make him a massive hit at the London Stadium.

With a new manager set to launch a new era at the club, they need to build for the long-term and Roberts can play a key role in that if they invest in his talent at this early stage.

Manchester City linked to Juventus midfielder Pjanic, fans react

Manchester City’s team does not need a whole lot of improvements given that Pep Guardiola’s side eased to the Premier League title last season.

However, most top-flight clubs will look to strengthen their first-team squads this summer, which means that City will need to do some tweaking as well.

Fernandinho had an impressive campaign in the middle of park, but he remains the only real option in that position.

With the amount of competitions that City are involved in, they need strength in depth.

With that in mind, there are rumours that the North-West outfit are interested in recruiting Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic, who is valued at £58.5m by Transfermarkt.

According to Tuttosport, City, as well as Real Madrid, hold an interest in the Bosnian, who is yet to agree to a new deal with Juve.

It is unclear how concrete the club’s interest in Pjanic is, but the fans have certainly had something to say.

Southampton fans want Targett to stay at St Mary’s

Matt Targett came through the youth system at Southampton, and the full-back has made 42 first-team appearances for the Saints in all competitions.

The 22-year-old actually appeared on 20 occasions during the 2015-16 season, but struggled for football during the 2016-17 campaign, and indeed in the first half of last term.

Targett moved to Fulham on loan during the January transfer window, and the former England Under-21 international played a key role in the Cottagers securing Premier League promotion.

It has been suggested that Fulham want to sign Targett on a permanent deal having been impressed with his performances in the second half of last season.

Indeed, operating behind the excellent Ryan Sessegnon, Targett showed some excellent form.

The Southampton fans have been discussing his future on social media, and it seems that the majority want him to be given the chance to secure a first-team spot at St Mary’s next season.

But it remains to be seen whether the defender is in the plans of new boss Mark Hughes.

A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Southampton supporters, who have also recently commented on the future of Paco Alcacer, can be seen below:

HYS: Which centre mid should Newcastle sign?

Newcastle have been linked with a whole host of midfielders already this summer, but which recently linked star would be the better move?

Newcastle have been one of a number of clubs linked with a summer swoop for Jack Wilshere, and the Arsenal man officially announced his departure from North London this week.

The 26 year-old has tremendous technical ability, but injury problems have plagued his Arsenal career, and Unai Emery seemingly has no plans to wait around for him to get fit.

The feisty midfielder would probably be an excellent fit on Tyneside, but fans are split on making a move for him due to his extensive injury history.

Badou Ndiaye is another player being linked with a move up north, as Turkish Football claim the Senegal international wants to move to Newcastle.

Ndiaye was excellent in his short stint at Stoke, averaging an incredible 4.1 tackles per game.

The powerful 27 year-old could be an excellent replacement for ageing fan favourite Mo Diame, and wouldn’t cost much after the Potters’ relegation.

Newcastle fans react to Grenier speculation

Newcastle United are interested in signing Guingamp midfielder Clement Grenier this summer, according to reports in L’Equipe.

The Magpies are believed to have tried to sign Grenier back in 2014, but the attacking midfielder ultimately decided to remain with Lyon.

It has been a difficult and indeed injury-ravaged few years for Grenier, but he impressed in the second half of last season – scoring five times and registering four assists in 15 appearances for Guingamp, having joined the club on a free transfer in January.

According to L’Equipe, Grenier could be available for as little as £2.6m this summer, and Newcastle are seriously interested in a potential deal.

[brid autoplay=”true” video=”258359″ player=”12034″ title=”The World Cup Twitter Report”]

That said, Everton, Fulham, AC Milan, Rennes and Fenerbahce are also all being linked with a player who has managed just 29 first-team appearances in the last three seasons. West Ham United, meanwhile, are also said to be in the race.

The Newcastle fans have been reacting to the transfer speculation, and it would be fair to say that they are struggling to agree whether their club should take a punt on the 27-year-old.
